Lady Macbeth refers to the “smell of the blood” and says, “The perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand”. Furthermore, she reveals the bitter and horrid smell of the blood, which is the opposite of the smell of Arabian perfumes. Moreover, the bitter and horrid smell of blood triggers an appalling emotional response from the reader.
